A few words on hair textures...

Every stylist and hair supplier has their own ideas on hair types - but we don't always agree. In light of that we've written our definition of the textures we carry in an effort to help you choose the texture that is best for you.

Wavy hair: 2 "A" and "B"

Wavy hair falls somewhere between straight hair with a slight wave to it and very loosely curly while maintaining its own unique structure - the hair forms the shape of a loose letter "S" and will occasionally resolve to a scandalously loose curl at the end!

Curly Hair: 3 "A" and "B"

Naturally curly hair is unique in that rarely are two curls identical! We've tried to emulate that in our 3 texture. It has a curl pattern ranging from bouncy ringlets and deep waves to 'tube-like' swirls. The curl circumference for this texture is usually about the size of your index finger or thumb, sometimes a bit bigger.

Kinky Hair: 3 "C"

Technically our kinky hair is a coarse curly hair. Type 3c hair has very tight curls or ‘s’ shapes when wet and/or displays a 'zigzag' curl pattern that frequently resolves into a ‘pinky’ sized ringlet at the end.

What texture is best for you?

Well, there are no hard and fast rules because our ethnicities are quite varied at this stage in our collective development. But as a loose guide consider this: If you are....

Caucasian: "A" and sometimes "B" range textures if your hair is naturally wavy, curly and/or a bit coarse.

African American/Black: "B" or "C" range textures blend flawlessly with relaxed, natural, and texturized hair.

Latina: "A", "B" or "C" might be applicable. We've had our Latina clients wear all three! Generally speaking, however, if your hair is fine and straight or wavy "A" works well. The curlier and more coarse your hair, then of course the "B" or "C" range.

Brazilian Hair What's the difference? Really it's just the thickness of the hair shaft and some clients find that as a result it blends much better with their natural hair. The curl patterns are very similar to our normal textures but, you’ll find that because of the thicker hair shaft, the curl pattern is a bit more defined and the hair is therefore a bit curlier from root to end!

CORRECTION: We've found overwhelmingly that the Brazilian 3C texture, unlike our original accessment, is softer and not as "kinky" as our normal 3C.
